Design Philosophy

Psychology + Design

I have a degree in behavioral science, which shapes everything about how I approach design. I love the intersection of psychology and home: the way our spaces affect our mood, our energy, our productivity. Color isn't just aesthetic, it's psychological. Light isn't just functional, it shapes how we feel. Understanding that connection is what allows me to design spaces that support how you actually live, not just how things look. That's why I started Cleo Rosa Interiors: to bring a genuine curiosity about how the spaces we inhabit can help us show up as our best selves-and free up space to be with the ones we love with more ease and presence.

Function First, Always

Aesthetics are the more straightforward element of design in a lot of ways. The real work is in function. It's understanding your daily rhythms -where you actually sit, how you move through your home, what surfaces need to withstand real life. Do you have kids? Pets? Do you wear shoes inside? These aren't small details; they're the foundation of everything. Especially in remodels, I design for reality, not for Instagram. I ask the questions that matter: What does your morning look like? How do you want to feel in this space? What fabrics can actually survive your life? My job is to listen deeply and make sure that function and your needs never get sacrificed for my aesthetic.

Meeting People Where They're At

I don't believe in telling clients what they should want. I believe in hearing them, understanding them, and then gently pushing them toward what's possible. People often get stuck in patterns - the same color palettes, the same safe choices - because that's what feels familiar. Sometimes all it takes is the right question to realize you can break free. That's where I find the joy in this work: those unexpected moments when someone says, "I never would have thought of that, but I love it." That connection between psychology, design, and the person living in the space - that's everything. Because ultimately, the most beautiful interior is the one that feels deeply, wholly yours.

My Story

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest with a contractor father, which meant weekends on job sites and an early education in how buildings come together. What captivated me most was that pivotal moment when a project stops being a construction site and starts holding the daily rhythms of real life—when it becomes a home instead of just a house.

I have a degree in applied behavioral science, which might seem like an unexpected background for an interior designer. But for me, it's everything. I've always been fascinated by how our environments shape us—how color shifts our mood, how light affects our focus, how a well-designed space can change the way we move through our days. That foundation taught me to pay attention to how you actually live: the morning chaos, the way you decompress after work, where everyone naturally congregates.

True collaboration means bringing different strengths to the table. You know your life in ways I never could; I bring the expertise to translate that into spaces that enhance your daily life. I'm not interested in copying trends—I want to create something authentically yours that you didn't know was possible until you experience it.

Together, we'll create a space that feels inevitable, like it couldn't have been any other way. That's what drives me every single day.

Looking forward to meeting you!
